Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell started in the field of radio and television reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. 1996, she was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In Washington she was made general reporter by NBC News two year later. 1981 was the year she began reporting on the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. And the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist, as well as anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. She was a member of a panel for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news stories such as arm control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
